'James and Jake had shown great interest in my playing at DividedByDirt -
the once every so often gathering they organise in the charming and
extraordinary town of Hebden Bridge.

The approach was good and honest and the more we e-mailed each other
the more I was seduced by their unbridled enthusiasm for all that is good
about modern music.

Their excitement made me excited and inevitably overcome with curiosity I
agreed to play for them. Months later as we approached Hebden Bridge in
the pissing rain, late and lost, I remember thinking, 'this better be good',
and of course, it was.

Indeed The Trades Club was the perfect setting - a delightful quirky
yet functional building full of open-minded local folk who love to boogie. A
great big Soundsystem had been installed for the evening and I happily
played to a bouncy and very diverse crowd who appreciated my being

James and Jake were the perfect hosts and it still stands as one of my
favourite gigs.

DividedByDirt is basic and raw edged, freaky but friendly and oozing with
positive energy. The bare essentials of a perfect party in deepest, darkest
rural Yorkshire.'
